Yesterday I was reading in Colossians, and a few verses stuck out that I'd like to share with all of you.
"Giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.
He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,
In whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.
He is the image of the invisible God, the first born over all creation.
For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.
And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.
And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.
For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.
(and this is where it gets great) And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight."
(Colossians 1:12-22)
I absolutely love this passage of scripture, and the rest of Colossians that follows. Basically we've got us - sinners who are separated from God because we're nothing. We mess up, we can't ever be what God requires. And then Jesus - Everything. We spend verses and verses talking about everything that He is, and everything that's He's done. And His holiness, and how He formed everything for His own pleasure. He's above all, and in Him all things consist. This Jesus is the epitome of Holiness.
And then we realize: for us, that doesn't add up. We're lost without Him. There's no hope. How could we ever even approach this God so great?
But wait! Wait one minute.. It's there. Jesus loves us. So, so, so much! And because of that great love, He gave Himself for us. What? This Jesus who is above all, and created all things, and is beyond our highest comprehensions; He gave Himself for us? Yes! He did. And that's the kind of love that we're talking about. That's the love that makes our lives worth living. And that's even the love that inspired this whole blog! So throughout today I want you to remind yourself of this Love. Because it'll change the way you live your life.
